Can the Solo 5 support picture in picture video?
Answers (1) - Asked by Anonymous
I have this question too (0)
The Solo 5 only has a single camera so it does not provide picture in picture. If you have an additional webcam, the Hovercam software can be set up to display video from both cameras, giving you a picture in picture video.

Yes, the Solo 5 can be used as a scanner to save JPEG and PDF images right within the Hovercam software.
Can the Solo 5 connect directly to my projector?
No, the Solo 5 only has a USB port so it must connect to a computer. You can then connect your projector to your computer to display the image.

Does the Hovercam work with the Microsoft Surface Tablet?
Hovercam document cameras, doesn''t matter which model, will work with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet. This tablet runs Windows 8.1 so it can support the Hovercam software. The Surface and Surface 2 tablets are not compatible with the Hovercam software.
Does it have a carry case?

Do you recommend this for artists?
Yes, Solo 5 is the best document camera for artists, including comic artists. It allows them to do a "quick scan" and send the drafts of their art work to editors. You can also scan the work, and using a projectorm, blow it up onto the wall for a large painting / large drawing. It shows A3 size (even larger); has an incredibly small footprint (doesn''t take up much desk space) and is easy to move around or travel with. And, for comic book collectors, Solo 5 is the best way to make a digital archive of your comic book collection
Do I need any additional items to use the Solo 5?
All you have to do is connect it to your computer. The Solo 5 comes with the software and USB cable needed to use it.
Can the Solo 5 use the HCBASET35 quickmount base?
No, that base is meat for the T3 and T5 models only. The Solo 5 has a weighted base and is very stable.
How do I scan an image? Does it take long?
Once your subject is placed under the camera and visible on your computer screen, you simply click the snapshot button on your screen and a few seconds later you have a scanned image thumbnail on the right side of your screen.
How do I record video with the Solo 5?
With the software in video mode, simply press the record button on your screen. It will then ask you to select the area which you want to record. Drag the box over the area of the image that you want to record and click record.
How do I know if the viewing area is set to A3 or A4 size?
There is a small window located on top of the camera head that displays "A3" or "A4" so you will know with just a glance.
How do I ensure that the microphone is there and ready to record?
The microphone is something you won''t have to think about. It is built into the Solo 5, located near the camera lens. It is also always ready to go when you push the record button.
How do I adjust the viewing size of the Solo 5?
I have this question too (1)
There is a wheel on the side of the camera head. Turning that wheel changes the viewing size from A4 to A3.
Does the Solo 5 have good video quality?
The Solo 5 has excellent video quality. It can rival much more expensive cameras. That being said, there are many factors that can affect your video quality, most notably is your computer. If the computer is running slow, the video may look slower than it should. You can also adjust the resolution of your video right on your screen. Higher resolution will give you a very high res image and slower video. Lowering the resolution will give you smoother video.

Yes, they used the HoverCam Solo 5 at a number of break out session. The SOLO5 is the best camera on the market for showing comic artists drawings and portfolios. For school customers this makes a great camera to have in your art classroom, mechanical drawing, cad, or even machine shops showing 3d objects.

I frequently travel for work and I would like to take the Solo 5 with me. Is that possible?
Absolutely. The Solo 5''s compact size and single cable connection make it very easy to transport and use wherever you go.

How does the Hovercam Solo 5 connect?
The Hovercam Solo 5 connects to your computer through the included USB cable. No other cables are needed. Since it does not have a video output, it can only connect to a computer through USB.
HoverCam has taken a radical, new approach to the document camera market. First, we took out the VGA connector. The HoverCam connects directly to the computer, not the projector. Not only does this result in cost savings, but with the growth of interactive whiteboards more and more teachers prefer using the computer to manage lesson delivery. The HoverCam uses the processing power of the computer to control the camera image. Another significant cost savings come from using a patent pending digital zoom process to deliver smooth zooming in and out up to 16X (optical zoom costs more).
What is the rubber mat that came in the box with the Solo 5?
That mat is there to assist in scanning documents. It has marks on it for the camera as well as different sizes of paper. Once you are set up, you simply drop you paper within the marks on the mat and you know it will be centered in the screen and ready to scan.
What is Auto Focus Lock and why do I need it?
Auto focus is a very convenient feature that automatically adjusts the focus to give you the clearest image possible. Anytime to change the object under the camera or move your hand under the camera, the focus will readjust. Sometimes you might just want to point to something or write on a piece of paper without having it readjust. You can press the AF-L (auto focus lock) button to keep it from refocusing. Pressing it again will turn the lock off, allowing the camera to refocus.
