First and foremost, the optics of the camera have improved dramatically. ELMO has done a few things to greatly enhance the picture and video quality. Elmo has raised the bar by offering a 3.4 mega pixel sensor as well as the ability to display in true high definition (both 720P and 1080P). This camera now boasts a 12X optical zoom and 8X digital zoom for a total 96X zoom! This improved image clarity and zoom capability will establish the image quality standard for educational document cameras. ELMO has taken the remarkable TT-02RX image quality to an unprecedented level with the new TT-12. This document camera will be one of a few that offer high definition clarity at an affordable cost. When using the HDMI connection, you are able to connect the TT-12 to a high definition projector, television or monitor for crystal clear pictures. This is the single biggest change to the Teacher Tool line. There are also many more additional features.
 
The TT-12 can also record full-motion video that is displayed at 30 frames per second. In laymans terms, this means you can shoot live video that will be very smooth, crystal clear and with great color reproduction.  Many teachers do not realize these cameras can also record video as well as still snap shots. This is a popular feature with math teachers who record equations and science teachers who use them to film dissections. Their is a built in microphone as well so you can record audio and video simultaneously.  This is a very helpful feature that allows you to save your presenations and from there the sky is the limit. You can post them on your blog, website, or facebook. You can also email the lesson to a child who missed class. It is a very nice feature that is often overlooked on some  of the lower cost cameras.
 
Teachers and students will appreciate the ELMO TT-12’s use of internal SD/SDHC/USB memory to capture images and record video without the need for a computer or external storage device. The unit also now has both an SD card slot and USB thumb drive slot. The USB drive is a unique feature. It not only allows you to store images directly to a thumb drive, but you can also use this slot in conjunction with the CRA-1 wireless tablet. This allows the presenter to use the CRA-1 tablet without a computer; a very impressive feature. 

Another unique improvement is the multi direction camera head that rotates 270 degrees. This allows left handed teachers to fully rotate the camera head to the other side in order to make presentations more comfortably. There is also a new built in microphone which allows you to record audio as well as video presentations. There is a microphone output as well so you interface with other louder sound systems if needed. We are quite impressed with these new improvements and thoughtful upgrades to this camera and recommend this camera be seriously considered.

One neat feature on this camera is the built in "VGA active pass through." This is a feature normally found on higher priced cameras. This allows you to connect both the TT-02RX and your computer  directly to your projector and only use one VGA input.  Not all projectors have multiple inputs so this is very convenient.  You’ll run the VGA cable from you computer to to the Elmo and then another cable from the Elmo to the projector.  You can display the image from the Elmo right on the projector, and when you want to display your computer, you just push a button and the computer’s video "passes through" the Elmo to the projector.
